  • 250 g red kidney beans drained and rinsed
  • 4 tbsp rolled oats (*gluten-free if needed)
  • 2 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 1 tbsp flax seeds
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley diced finely
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

  • Drain the beans, put them in a bowl and mash them with a potato masher or a fork. Mix in a generous tablespoon of tomato paste and all the spices.
  • Put the oats, sunflower seeds, and flax seeds into a blender or a food processor. Pulse a few times to ground them into a coarse flour.
  • Add the flour to the beans and mix well to form a ball. Divide the ball into 4 equal parts and form patties. Bake in a preheated oven set to 180 degrees Celsius or 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes.
  • Serve in a bun with fresh veggies and your favorite sauces. Be sure to check out our recipe for a whole-food plant-based Cashew Sour Cream.
